A playful class for toddlers using movement and music to support the development of balance, flexibility, strength, rhythm and body awareness. This parent-child class is designed for children ages two to three but open to all.

With that in mind we posted about making cookies for United Way a few weeks ago. KFA got an email today about more opportunities to volunteer in our area that would bring you and your family together. Helping others IS what it's all about. Here is the website.

Description: New Choices is an empowerment program for displaced homemakers in need of counseling and assistance in order to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Volunteers assist in cooking a meal for 15-25 women and children attending bi-weekly "Circles of Hope" meetings. Project tasks also include serving the meal and cleaning up the kitchen. Volunteers should dress for kitchen work with closed toe shoes and long hair pulled back. YWCA provides all supplies. Volunteers are welcome to share the meal that they help cook.
Youth 13-15 welcome with adult supervision. Youth 16+ welcome.

Description: Help sort food at MANNA Food Bank to be given to 360 agencies serving hungry people in Western North Carolina. Volunteers will assist with sorting and preparing donations or helping with monthly mailings. Volunteers may also assist by packing food into backpacks for children who are dependent on free or reduced cost lunch and might otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
Volunteers are welcome to bring nonperishable food items to donate to MANNA to help them feed the hungry of WNC.

Description: Volunteers are needed to wrap gifts in two hour shifts at Barnes and Noble for donations that will go directly to the Literacy Council of Buncombe County. Volunteers are needed to share in the crafts, sell hot beverages, greet guests, and more. This is a family tradition for hundreds of families in the Asheville area! This is all outdoors, so volunteers should come prepared with warm clothes. Youth volunteers ages 12-17 accepted. Ages 18+ welcome.

My Mom's Having a Baby!
Sibling Class & Tour
A special program to help older children understand, accept, and anticipate the changes that will happen as the family prepares for the birth of the new baby. Each child will:
- See and hold life-like models that show how a baby grows and develops
- Make a kite mobile for the new baby's room
- Receive an activity/coloring book that encourages the older child to explore and express feelings about the new baby
- Tour the Mother/Baby Unit at Mission Hospital to see where mom and baby will stay
Children should be accompanied by an adult.

We will have the marvelously talented Mountain Marionettes performing 2 shows (7:00 and 7:40pm), arts and crafts for the kids, face painting, the Howl-O-Ween Family Feud game, animal enrichment programs and lots of yummy snacks for sale. Our Creepy Crawler Cabin will be back with special guest stars such as arachnids, insects, large worms, rodents, and flying mammals. Back by popular demand, our Costume Contest will be held early this year:
6:30pm for children ages 1-10 and 7:30pm for youth ages 11- 17. Times may change, so please call ahead to confirm. Come in costume for a fun evening of Howl-O-Ween cheer!
