Cooking with Kids ~ Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

I want to share a fun and easy recipe that your kids will love. I had some extra cream cheese icing left from making a cake so I wanted to incorporate it into another recipe.

HOMEMADE CINNAMON ROLLS!!!!!

I made up a simple biscuit dough. The kids can get all dirty helping you with this!! In fact they will want to help and make a huge mess. Which it totally okay because that can be cleaned up.

2 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup milk

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in butter with a pastry blender. Then add milk and stir with a fork until dough forms.

Put dough on floured work surface. I rolled the dough out pretty thin in a rectangle shape. I then sprinkled lots of brown sugar and cinnamon on the dough.

I then cook a pizza cutter and cut thin strips into the dough. Then I rolled the strips and put them on a baking sheet. I have also just rolled the dough up first then cut into strips. They both come out the same. I actually got more cinnamon rolls by rolling up and then cutting. I am not sure how that worked.

I baked for about 12 minutes on 425.

Fresh from the oven and iced.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

To make a simple icing for the cinnamon rolls you can just mix together powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency and smooth. Then just drizzle over hot cinnamon rolls.

All the ingredients used in this recipe were organic.
