RiverLink's Rockin' River Fest offers family friendly activities all day long as an opportunity to enjoy our French Broad River right in the city of Asheville, and as in past years, there will be a special place to bring your extra energized children! There will be face painting, hula hoops, art projects, and much more.
A special feature of the area this year will be the "I Pledge" quilt. Children will be invited a quilt square with river friendly themes and write a sentence or two on it about how they pledge to care for the river.
Another kid friendly part of Rockin' River Fest is the Kids Parade which shines special light on our future watershed stewards and gives them a chance to run out extra summer energy! Kids can decorate their bike, rollerskates, skateboard, or themselves (any nonmotor means of transportation) and win prizes for the most creative, most environmental, funniest, and cutest. They will be awarded within each of the following age categories: 0-3 yrs, 3-6 yrs, 6-9 yrs and 9-12 yrs. Costumes and decorations are strongly encourage!
Meet at the main stage starting at 10:30am to register and the Parade will begin at Rockin' River Fest can only be as great with energetic, involved volunteers, so if you're interested in volunteering with any of these events, contact Ashley Brown, Education Coordinator at 252-8474 x111 or by email at education@riverlink.org.
